Truck stop prices going up, too

I wonder if anyone else has noticed that as fuel prices have gone up and freight has slowed down that the various truck-stops chains have slowly been raising their prices on everything.

If that wasn't bad enough, they have done nothing to improve their facilities: the parking lots are full of holes, four-wheelers drive in 24 hours a day, and the majority of the time the restrooms are either broke or out of paper, soap, etc.

The next time you visit a "central Arkansas" truck stop check out both the menu and the buffet.  Count how many items are heavy on carbs, or how long the veggies have sat losing whatever nutrients are left after being over-cooked.  Check the menu and determine if there are any truly heart/health friendly items there.  They are slowly killing their very customers [by] using hydrogenated oils for cooking and passing it off as butter. That should be considered false advertising.

I urge the trucking companies to work with their fuel providers to provide the drivers with a more healthful and safer environment.  After all, they are the drivers’ dining room, living room, laundry room, and lavatory.  Quit hiring a bunch of cheap "eye candy" and bring in professionals to serve professionals; the key word being SERVE.
