Average price of  gallon of diesel drops two tenths of penny

WASHINGTON — The average price of an on highway gallon of diesel dropped two tenths of a penny to $3.032 for the week ending August 5, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.

Only the Central Atlantic region (Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York) decreased more than a penny (1.3 cents).

Two regions increased. The Midwest region was up two tenths of a penny to $2.942 and the New England states saw an increase of one tenth of a cent to $3.107.

The price was 19.1 cents a gallon less than the comparable week one year ago.
