Show your support for military veterans during the 22×22 Veterans Suicide Prevention Challenge

What is the 22×22 Challenge?

Nearly a decade ago, the VA released a horrifying statistic: Each day, an estimated average of 22 military veterans died by suicide. That’s 22 deaths every single day. Multiply that by 365 days in a year and the tally is staggering.

Each day, from Nov. 1-22, 2024, members of the trucking industry and the general public are encouraged “stop, drop and gimme 22” push-ups.

To make your pledge, complete the form below; then post a video of yourself doing 22 push-ups (or your best effort!) on your personal Facebook or Instagram page. Be sure to include the hashtag #keeppushin22 so we can share your videos!

How does doing push-ups help prevent veteran suicide?

The mission behind 22×22 is not about how many push-ups you do. It’s about bringing awareness and donating to a veterans’ support organization of your choice.

We suggest Waypoint Vets, a foundation created by Army OIF combat veteran Sarah Lee. In 2004, Sarah was deployed to Iraq as an NCO with the 216th Combat Engineers under the 1st Infantry Division. You can read about her personal journey after returning to civilian life in her own words in A Vicious Cycle.

Created by Bob Perry, aka “The Trucker Trainer,” the Keep Pushin’ 22 challenge was inspired by the 22×22 Veterans Suicide Prevention Challenge, an initiative that draws public attention to the prevalence of suicide among the nation’s military veterans and gives participants an opportunity to donate financially to their favorite veteran-support organization.
