GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — During its first Drive for Hope Golf Tournament, Forward Air raised $375,000 to benefit Hope for the Warriors’ Drive for Hope program. The tournament, organized by Forward Air’s charitable platform, Operation Forward Freedom, was held May 18-19, 2022, at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Georgia.
Founded in 2006, Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for post-9/11 veterans, service members and military families. The organization’s Drive for Hope program is a comprehensive driving program designed to help injured service members and veterans regain independence and the freedom to drive through rehabilitation and behind-the-wheel training in adaptive vehicles.
“Thousands of our current and former Forward teammates served our country,” said Tom Schmitt, chairman, president and CEO of Forward Air. “We are honored to tip our hats to them and give back to our veterans in tandem with our partners from Hope For The Warriors.”
Forward Air’s Drive for Hope Golf Tournament also featured a silent auction, guest speakers, an opening ceremony with a color guard presentation, and celebrity guests, including former Major League Baseball players Doug Flynn and Hall of Famer Johnny Bench.
