Film documents transportation industry Vietnam vets as they return to Asia

COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine — Wreaths Across America (WAA) recently partnered with several trucking industry companies and non-profits to make a new documentary about Vietnam veterans who went on to work in transportation. The documentary, “Mission Veteran Expedition: Honoring Vietnam Veterans in the Transportation Industry,” can be viewed on WAA’s YouTube channel.  U.S. Army veteran Nicholas Mott, owner of Seven Five Media, was selected to capture and produce the film. “The documentary offers an intimate and compelling look at the journey of these veterans,” Mott said. “Capturing the essence of their experiences and the profound impact of the Mission Veteran Expedition was truly an honor. I hope other Vietnam veterans will watch it and find it healing.” The 10 Vietnam veterans who were a part of the documentary eventually made a career in the transportation industry, and they had the opportunity to revisit the country where they spent some of their time amongst fellow soldiers during their military service. Waypoint Vets led the expedition. The itinerary offered a variety of experiences, including: Grounds Tour of the Former Saigon Embassy Walking Street Food Tour through Ho Chi Minh City Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta Luxury Tour War Remnants Museum Halong Bay Cruise Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency Tour A ‘Welcome Home’ ceremony hosted at Sirius XM studios in Hollywood, with interviews on Radio Nemo “The Mission Veteran Expedition successfully commemorated these veterans’ valiant contributions while allowing them to experience the beauty of Vietnam’s landscapes and the richness of its culture,” said Sarah Lee, Army combat veteran and founder of Waypoint Vets. “For many veterans, the memories associated with Vietnam are often intertwined with the challenges of war. This expedition redefined these associations and replaced them with new, healing memories. By engaging with Vietnam on a deep, personal level, the trip forged lasting connections and helped veterans find solace in the beauty of a nation at peace.” FASTPORT and WAA have welcomed home more than 7,500 Vietnam veterans as commemorative partners of The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. “I feel the trip’s culmination was an important piece of closure for the participant’s journey,” said Brad Bentley, president of FASTPORT, who traveled to Vietnam with the group. “These men returned to the United States to a hero’s welcome, and for millions who never received this show of gratitude for answering the call of duty, it was truly an honor to say, ‘Welcome Home.’”

Volvo Trucks North America pushes everything safety in all-new Volvo VNL

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Volvo Trucks North America is eager to stress that it’s all-new Volvo VNL is designed with an all-new set of safety standards.  “At Volvo Trucks, developing safety innovations that help protect drivers and those around the trucks is a process that never ends. You don’t become the brand known for safety by playing it safe,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America. “Safety is in our DNA and at the heart of every truck we build. The all-new Volvo VNL sets the new standard for active and passive safety in North America. At Volvo Trucks, we have a vision for zero accidents because it’s the only number that’s acceptable.” With a vision of achieving zero accidents, the company’s commitment to safety is, according to a news release, “demonstrated through the all-new Volvo VNL’s next-generation driver assistance and occupant protection technologies.” The Volvo VNL features a suite of class-leading driver assistance systems and features that add to its safety, including: Advanced Driver Assistance Safety Systems Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection Feature Maximizing Driver Visibility Class-Leading Drivers Safety Features Smart Safety Technologies for Emergency Situations The Volvo VNL also includes the Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) package, which comes standard across all VNL models. This package features forward collision avoidance technology to assist drivers in maintaining safe speeds and distances, adaptive cruise control, along with audible and haptic alerts to help the driver maintain a safe following distance to the vehicle ahead.  The new optional Volvo Active Driver Assist Plus (VADA Plus) provides support for lane changes and active lane centering, as well as a variety of alerts to help drivers reduce the risk of side collisions. Powered by Volvo Dynamic Steering, VADA Plus helps drivers maintain effective maneuvering, steering control and stability under various speeds and road conditions, according to Volvo. This includes high crosswinds, highway crowning and emergency situations, such as tire failure; therefore, reducing driver fatigue and bolstering safety.    A new forward pedestrian detection feature alerts the driver about pedestrians or bicyclists who may be in their path and can activate frontal automatic emergency braking when these objects are directly in the tractor-trailer’s path. According to the news release, “the camera system can also provide long-range pedestrian detection,” and with customers having the option to include the VADA Plus, the system also has a “short-range detection senses pedestrians and bicyclists who may appear in blind spots immediately on either side of the truck and trailer.”  The new camera solutions are “designed to give drivers additional tools to improve their visibility,” which includes a forward-looking camera that “recognizes road signs and displays them on the digital 12-inch Digital Information Display to give the driver more time to make adjustments safely, according to the news release. The fully integrated CMS, or camera monitoring system, is a traditional side mirror but has a more extensive range of visibility, helping reduce the number of collisions during lane changes or backing maneuvers, the news release notes. The windshield is also designed with safety in mind. “The all-new Volvo VNL’s wrapped windshield provides drivers with expansive, panoramic views,” according to the news release. “This design choice enhances both aerodynamics and visibility, significantly boosting safety while also diminishing wind noise within the cab. Crafted with a distinct slope and curvature, the windshield ensures an unobstructed view of the road ahead, thereby allowing drivers more time to respond to potential hazards, effectively lowering the risk of collisions.” Additionally, the driver’s seat position can be adjusted to optimize these site lines further. “In terms of resilience, the windshield is engineered to minimize shattering upon impact and is securely bonded to the vehicle’s frame,” the news release states. “The windshield comes standard with laminated safety glass to reduce the risk of injury from flying debris during a collision.” The  Volvo VNL is also designed to meet the Swedish Impact Test standards. The cab is constructed using high-strength steel, which is up to three times more potent than aluminum. “It is precisely engineered to absorb and deflect the energy of a crash, reducing the chance of injury,” according to the news release. “In the event of an emergency situation where an airbag is deployed or a rollover, the tractor-trailer will activate a suite of intelligent safety protocols to protect the vehicle and its occupants further by automatically shutting down the engine, cutting the fuel supply to diminish the risk of fire outbreak and activating the hazard lights to alert nearby drivers. For an extra step into providing further protection, the emergency parking brake is also engaged when a frontal airbag is deployed in order to stabilize the vehicle.”

NACFE’s newest report shows natural gas could be reliable, eco-friendly fuel source for trucking

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) recently released the newest Confidence Report titled, “Natural Gas’ Role in Decarbonizing Trucking.” The report focuses on using natural gas as a fuel source and the potential it has to not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “CNG (compressed natural gas) and RNG (renewable natural gas) offer a lot of benefits as we decarbonize the transportation industry; however, there are challenges. Each fleet must assess all of these to be assured it is the right solution while in the messy middle,” said Jeff Seger, NACFE’s clean energy consultant. The report concludes with nine key findings about natural gas engine use in commercial vehicles: There appears to be a wide range of perceptions and results regarding the business case for natural gas. There are several positive environmental aspects of natural gas engines. There are environmental concerns with natural gas. Sustainability goals, regulations, and the California conundrum are considerations. The new 15-liter Cummins X15N engine seems promising. After treatment, it is simple and more reliable. Natural gas is very abundant in the U.S. There is a question as to whether there will be an ample supply of renewable natural gas. Because of economics and the environment, there are a few points to consider when comparing battery-electric vehicles and compressed natural gas. The report provides an overview of the various types of natural gas and details fleets’ experience using natural gas fuel for their medium-and heavy-duty trucks. It also looks at available natural gas engines and truck makers that are offering a natural gas option in their product portfolios. “Natural gas engines need to be looked at as part of the ‘messy middle,’ so fleets can decide if they want to invest in it considering other powertrain options,” said Mike Roeth, NACFE’s executive director. “It has its pluses and minuses, but it does produce less CO2 per unit of energy on a full-comparison basis compared to No. 2 diesel fuel.” Although natural gas has been used in combustion engines for decades, a renewed interest in using it in the transportation industry has become a more extensive topic of discussion. Transportation companies have noticed that renewable natural gas is a lower-carbon fuel than regular diesel and cleaner burning than diesel. In particular, corporate leaders are looking at renewable natural gas because of its potential negative carbon intensity when the feedstock is animal waste.

Dave Nemo retiring from full-time duties as trucking radio personality

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. — Dave Nemo, the legendary trucking radio personality, announced that he is retiring from full-time hosting of “The Dave Nemo Show” on SiriusXM’s Road Dog Channel 146 in 2025. “While he will continue to lend his name, expertise and distinctive voice to the broadcast, Nemo is stepping back to play percussion, travel and, in his own words, “Do what I wanna to do when I wanna to do it,’” according to a news release. The radio host will spend this coming year not only continuing to host his show but also increasing his travel schedule to thank his many friends throughout the industry. Calling these appearances “The Last Ride of The Road Gang,” RadioNemo of North America will be celebrating the career of their namesake co-founder with parties, live broadcasts and special events. The connected events will be sponsored through generous partnerships with United Axle, Drivers Legal Plan and JobsinTrucks. “The Last Ride of The Road Gang” got underway at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville on March 23, when Nemo made the official announcement from the SiriusXM broadcast booth. But Nemo has made it clear that this is not goodbye — it’s merely “Another new direction in what has been a long journey,” he said. For the better part of five decades, Nemo focused on the informational needs of his truck driver listeners. Regardless of the topic of conversation or the subject of the interview, his broadcasts placed the men and women who delivered goods and services throughout the country squarely at the center of the show. Beginning principally as a disc jockey and humorist on WWL’s legendary up-all-night “The Road Gang” broadcast, Nemo proved resilient through multiple changes in his formats, locations, and audiences. He transitioned from his early days of spinning records and generating laughs into a trusted, non-partisan voice for the industry. Nemo’s radio roots extend all the way back to the end of the 1960s. While still in his senior year at Loyola University of New Orleans in 1969, Nemo became the weekend host at WWL 870 AM. He continued in that position until October of 1970 when he joined the Army. The following year, he continued to hone his skills by reading copy and playing music for AFKN in Seoul, South Korea, while stationed at the Yongsan Army/Air Force base. Nemo considers his decision to move to satellite radio to be one of the most important of his life. In 2008, XM merged with Sirius to become SiriusXM and switched Nemo’s programming from a music format to an informational one. In this moment, “The Dave Nemo Show” was born and has continued to this day. Over those 16 years, the man who provided laughter and song has transformed into a trusted source of information for truckers looking for a voice beholden to no one but their needs. What began in New Orleans has returned to the Gulf Coast, as Nemo moved his studio back to The Crescent City, and the Burnses relocated DNE headquarters to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where it has since become RadioNemo of North America. Moving forward, “The Dave Nemo Show” will continue with Nemo lending support not only to his trusted colleagues Jimmy Mac, Lindsay Lawler and Tim Ridley, but also the many contributors who make the program the most comprehensive in trucking. The show can continue to be heard weekdays on SiriusXM Road Dog Trucking (channel 146) from 7-11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

DENTON, Texas — Peterbilt Motors Company and Rush Truck Centers (RTC) have donated $1.5 million to Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) and Wreaths Across America (WAA). According to a news release, representatives from both charities received donations from Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Vice President Jason Skoog and RTC CEO Rusty Rush at the Mid-America Trucking Show, held recently in Louisville, Kentucky.  Each charity received an equal share of the donated money: $750,000. “It is very fitting that the proceeds from the last Model 389 will support these two worthy organizations,” Skoog said. “We thoughtfully selected TAT and WAA as the recipients of this donation to help fund their efforts in supporting our trucking community, specifically combating human trafficking and honoring our fallen soldiers. We are proud to stand with them and look forward to seeing all the great work they will accomplish in the years ahead.” RTC contributed $625,000, which came from an auction they held for the last ever-produced Model 389 in February 2023. Peterbilt split its raised funds to the charities in the amount of $125,000 each. “Rush Enterprises is proud to join Peterbilt Motors Company in supporting Truckers Against Trafficking and Wreaths Across America,” said W.M. “Rusty” Rush, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Rush Enterprises, Inc. “We all can take part in protecting the more vulnerable members of our society, and Truckers Against Trafficking’s efforts to aid law enforcement in the recovery of victims of human trafficking is truly life-saving work. Further, the mission of Wreaths Across America, to honor those who serve, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, while inspiring the next generation to value our freedoms, is important to me personally as well as to countless Rush Enterprises employees who have served in the armed forces or who come from military families,” Rush added. The last Model 389 will be the centerpiece at one of RTC’s sweepstakes that will run throughout the year to raise additional funds for a third charity, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Bendix invests to double air disc brake production capacity

AVON, Ohio — Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems officials say they are working to improve the production capacity of double Air Disc Brakes (ADB) to meet the accelerating customer demand. These investments have prepared Bendix to accommodate 100% growth in ADB production since 2018, which has led to a more than 30% increase in volume realized to date, according to a news release. The ADB market for commercial vehicles in North America continues to expand, with adoption rates on Class 6-8 vehicles topping 50% — up from approximately 25% in 2018.  “Adoption rates for air disc brakes have grown sharply in the last few years, and anticipating that growth has been the foundation of the investments we’ve made — all with the commitment to support what this market needs in ADB volumes for tractors and trailers,” said Nicole Oreskovic, Bendix vice president of sales and marketing. “Bendix has led the way in the development and advocacy of air disc brakes since 2005. We continue to adapt our design and manufacturing processes for increased capacity, uniquely positioning us to enable and help drive the market conversion to ADBs, as we have for the last 20 years.” According to Bendix’s Vice President, Aaron Schwass, “the company has focused on three primary aspects at its Bowling Green facility.” The three aspects have helped the company drive the goal of doubling its production capacity and how they address its customer’s needs.  “Bendix has the largest installed air disc brake assembly capacity in North America for the commercial vehicle market thanks to our sustained investment focus over the years,” Schwass said. “That position is further bolstered with strategic levers that have put us in position to meet current and future ADB demand.” More specifically, Bendix also decided to install a high-volume assembly line, which increased the ADB assembly capacity by more than 40%. The company expanded its resources with the additional machining capacity to support the increased volumes. The final essential focus area provided an increase in supplier capacity, both in product-specific tooling and supplier development. This enabled the supply base to sustain the level needed to support Bendix’s internal capacity. Bendix ADB is part of the company’s full complement of wheel-end solutions, including drum brake systems, automatic slack adjusters, spring brakes, friction, and remanufactured ADB calipers. Bendix ADBs are available at major truck OEs and significant trailer manufacturers, along with leading full-line North American school bus manufacturers and intercity coach manufacturers in the United States and Canada. With air disc brakes, drivers appreciate shorter stopping distances, smoother, straighter, and more stable stops, a car-like feel, and virtually no brake fade. It is a fleet’s decision to spec ADB that depends on its application and business needs. The news release states that a “Return on investment (ROI) in ADBs usually depends on a combination of factors, including lightweight design, extended brake system life, quicker pad changes — roughly one-quarter the time of drum brakes once the wheel is off — and a longer friction duty cycle.” Across the number of applications for line haul, refuse, and school bus, for instance, fleets are seeing lower total cost of ownership through the adoption of ADBs. More fleets are benefiting from the ADBs due to their positive impact on Compliance, Safety, and Accountability scores and brake inspections. A critical way ADBs may improve safety is by further enhancing the capability of collision mitigation systems, which depend on stopping power at the wheel-ends to work at their best. “Safety plays an important part in ROI as well, and when we look at braking technology through the lens of making vehicles safer for drivers and others sharing the road, air disc brakes contribute to that,” Oreskovic said. “Fundamentally, they help make roads safer.” “Commercial vehicle safety technologies are becoming more integrated and complex,” Oreskovic said. “As we talk about autonomy and electrification, from a foundation brake perspective, ADB is a key contributing technology to support and enable where the industry is going.” In that way, Bendix officials say their role as a complete safety system provider is critical. “As a safety system provider, we look at the whole safety system, including air disc brakes,” Oreskovic said. “We’re examining the tractor and trailer and constantly working to refine, evolve, and enhance the system so that all parts work optimally both individually and together. That comprehensive approach is at the core of who Knorr-Bremse and Bendix are as companies.”

Bendix finalizes sale of SafetyDirect platform to Rand McNally of TELEO

AVON, Ohio — Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has finalized the sale of SafetyDirect to Chicago-based Rand McNally of TELEO Capital Management LLC. SafetyDirect is a video-based driver safety platform engineered specifically for big rig fleets. “Bendix will provide all marketing, data and product integration support to Rand McNally to help enable a cohesive, coordinated approach for optimized customer solutions,” according to a news release. “To foster continued alignment between the organizations, Bendix will receive an equity stake, which is an ownership position, in Rand McNally/SafetyDirect operations and hold an observer seat on the Rand McNally Board of Directors.” The sale has no impact on the existing portfolio of Bendix braking, steering and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Rand McNally will continue to offer SafetyDirect and its integration with Bendix ADAS and brake systems, the news release notes. “Delivering value to our customers is at the core of all we do and the driver behind this action,” said Piotr Sroka, president, CEO and chief operating officer at Bendix. “Connectivity and data access are essential parts of Bendix’s strategy for our evolving ADAS solutions suite. The sale supports our desire to deliver enhanced functionality and more rapid and robust technology advancement under a partner well equipped to deliver on that need.” Effective the moment the sale was finalized, Bendix and Rand McNally will begin a detailed, phased shift of operations and systems. Uber Freight nationally scales its Powerloop, expands dedicated fleets

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Uber Freight’s drop and hook capacity solution, Powerloop, has scaled nationally with new capabilities. According to a news release, drop and hook services “have become increasingly sought-after, meeting the evolving needs of shippers for flexible transportation solutions while also offering carriers enhanced efficiency and earning potential.” Powerloop has seen explosive growth, with more than 10,000 carriers servicing more than 220,000 loads to date. In 2023 alone, the capacity program experienced a 43% increase in load volume. “We’ve transformed Powerloop into the drop-and-hook solution that I envisioned during my time as a shipper,” remarked Alyssa Correale, vice president of operations at Uber Freight. “The escalating demand for our program is a testament to its efficacy. With a nationwide carrier base of 95,000 and significant enhancements, we’re reaffirming our commitment to innovation and excellence in the transportation industry, positioning ourselves to meet the burgeoning demand and drive continued acceleration.” Enhancements to Powerloop Capacity Solution The enhancements include an expanded dedicated fleet offering, artificial intelligence-powered bundling capabilities to build carrier drop and hook tours and telematics-enhanced smart trailers, the news release notes. Powerloop trailers are now equipped with state-of-the-art GPS, cargo sensors, door sensors and 24/7 monitoring cameras. This advanced technology provides real-time visibility into trailer location and capacity, and provides alerts against cargo theft, offering peace of mind to carriers and shippers. Data generated from smart trailers is seamlessly integrated into Uber Freight’s Transportation Management System (TMS) via API, enabling seamless tracing, tracking and proactive risk mitigation. “The scale of Powerloop has unlocked new opportunities for shippers to establish dedicated fleets with Uber Freight,” the news release stated. “Dedicated fleets involve committing carriers full-time to serve a particular shipper under a long-term contract, offering cost-saving opportunities and guaranteed service for high-density freight needs.” Uber Freight now facilitates the creation of dedicated fleets of any size leveraging carriers across the U.S. Carriers can provide shippers with committed drop and live capacity on a weekly or ongoing basis. Bundles were introduced in Uber Freight’s network in 2019 and play a crucial role in eliminating millions of empty miles by optimizing carrier routes. Powerloop bundles have further reduced empty miles by more than 29%. “Additionally, by providing carriers with access to hauling bundles of loads from multiple shippers, Uber Freight helps increase carriers’ earnings while minimizing their dwell time,” according to the news release. “This new way of bundling loads and building routes ensures efficient movement from point A to point B and back, maximizing efficiency for both carriers and shippers.” Reginald Alexander, operations manager from Skyward Transportation, said that his company is thrilled to expand its offerings without a need to expand its fleet. “As a carrier of Uber Freight committed capacity, our drivers are hauling loads on a consistent basis for household names,” he concluded.

Wreaths Across America relaunches virtual convoy

COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine & LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wreaths Across America (WAA) is relaunching its virtual convoy program for 2024. Dubbed Truckloads of Remembrance, the program seeks to fill an entire virtual tractor-trailer with sponsored veterans’ wreaths from each of the 50 states, according to a news release. Hometown heroes from across the country are buried at Arlington, where more than 260,000 eligible markers for veterans’ wreaths will be placed — this is more than 260,000 servicemembers whose names will be said out loud and remembered as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. “By registering as a payback group, each organization can raise funds for their local programs while supporting the yearlong mission and honoring local heroes who were not laid to rest locally,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of WAA. “I have long said that it would be disingenuous of us as an organization whose mission is to Remember, Honor, and Teach if we do not support those giving back in their communities throughout the year.” In its inaugural year, 36 state trucking associations participated, and the 2023 virtual convoy facilitated the sponsorship of 7,129 veterans’ wreaths, which is nearly two full trailer loads, for placement on National Wreaths Across America Day. “WAA looks forward to the growth of the state association program in 2024 and will continue to raise awareness and support the mission across the country,” the news release states. “This year, WAA aims to expand this impactful initiative, renamed Truckload of Remembrance and invites all national transportation associations and other industry nonprofits to join in supporting honoring servicemembers with sponsored veterans’ wreaths for placement by volunteers at Arlington National Cemetery on National Wreaths Across America Day, which is on Saturday, Dec. 14.” Courtney George, Director of Transportation and Industry Relations for Wreaths Across America, will deliver a presentation about Truckloads of Remembrance and how to get involved while at MATs. The presentation begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Lane closures announced for I-10 through parts of Louisiana

ST. MARTIN PARISH and IBERVILLE PARISH, La. — On Monday, March 18, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that phase two of the three-phase, $591,040.00 project to install new speed limit signs and radar speed detection devices along Interstate 10 on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge will begin. Because of this, intermittent alternating lane closures will be in place along westbound and eastbound I-10; however, emergency vehicles will have access to this area. The work is estimated to take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, weather permitting.  The road will also be open to regular traffic during work hours, but oversize loads passing through the work zone will be restricted to a 12-foot lane. When the work is done, the speed limit for all vehicles crossing the bridge will be 60 mph. Speed limits on the bridge have been capped at 55 mph for trucks and 60 mph for all other vehicles. According to a news release, improvements along this Highway Safety Corridor are focusing on reducing the number of fatal and injury crashes, which often leads to the basin bridge being closed to traffic for hours at a time. The intention of this phase is to have all vehicles moving at a consistent speed, which will improve reaction times and stopping distance. DOTD will closely monitor the speed, crash and incident-related data that will determine the effectiveness of the speed limit and feedback signs. Louisiana State Police and local law enforcement will continue to issue citations to violators. As a reminder, due to the stipulations outlined in the Highway Safety Corridor legislation, citations issued along this corridor will result in doubled fines. The project is estimated to be completed in June 2024.

CBP seize millions of dollars in meth from 18-wheeler at Otay Mesa Cargo Facility

OTAY MESA, Calif. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility recently discovered and seized millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine that was hidden in a big rig’s load of peppers and tomatillos. On Tuesday, March 12, CBP officers encountered a 27-year-old man driving a tractor-trailer, according to a news release. The driver, who was also a valid border crossing card holder, was referred for further examination by CBP officers, along with the tractor-trailer and shipment. While in the secondary inspection area, a CBP K-9 unit searched the shipment and alerted officers to examine the trailer more thoroughly. Upon further examination, a CBP agriculture specialist discovered a box containing a crystal-like substance within the shipment, the news release notes. Officers extracted 3,594 packages from the shipment. After the contents of the packages were tested, they were confirmed to be methamphetamine with a weight of 3,671.58 pounds. CBP officers seized the narcotics and tractor-trailer, while the driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation. This seizure is part of Operation Apollo, a joint regional operation comprised of federal, state and local agencies working to combat the threat from fentanyl and other illicit synthetic narcotics. More information about Operation Apollo can be found here.
