ORBCOMM electronic logging devices now available in Spanish, French

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. — ORBCOMM a global provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, said Thursday its electronic logging device is now available in Spanish and French-Canadian versions, expanding its market reach to fleet customers in new geographic regions.

ORBCOMM’s ELD provides complete visibility, monitoring and management of drivers, vehicles and displays, helping fleets improve safety records, increase productivity, reduce operating costs, drive up fuel efficiency and help retain drivers, according to Craig Malone, ORBCOMM’s executive vice president of product development. The ORBCOMM ELD is an Android-based in-cab device with 4G LTE connectivity built on the company’s industry-leading BT 500 hardware and integrated with FleetManager, its robust, Cloud-based analytics and reporting platform.

ORBCOMM’s driver-friendly ELD solution has an intuitive and easy-to-learn interface, which automates Hours of Service calculations, alerts the driver when available hours are running low and advises on options to maximize remaining hours.

Other features of the ORBCOMM ELD include advanced messaging capabilities that improve communication between drivers and office staff, the ability to design custom data entry forms and use form messages and text-to-speech functionality for safety.

Malone said dedicated online HOS and exceptions workspaces along with real-time HOS and duty graphs for drivers eliminate issues like unassigned miles with a few clicks. Built on an open, scalable platform, the ORBCOMM ELD also enables customers to easily add third-party applications, store and view documents, capture signatures and send high-resolution images for added efficiency.

“As a global IoT company, we are committed to meeting the evolving needs of our customers around the world, and our new Spanish and French-Canadian ELD models offer ORBCOMM a unique competitive edge in incremental geographic markets,” Malone said.  “Our new Spanish ELD is being utilized by fleets in Latin America as well as in the U.S., while our North American cross-border carrier customers are leveraging our French-Canadian ELD, which not only helps fleets with French-speaking drivers but also ensures compliance with the Canadian ELD Mandate effective in June 2021.”
