Iowa DOT seeking input about draft plan on managing rest areas

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking your input about a draft plan outlining a path forward in managing our rest areas located throughout the state.

The draft plan, additional materials related to rest areas in Iowa, and opportunities to provide input are available at https://iowadot.gov/restareaplan. Comments will be accepted until September 2019.

Comments collected during this period will be used to create a final implementation plan for the future of rest areas in Iowa.

This draft plan and public input period is part of the Iowa DOT’s Statewide Rest Area System planning study that has been ongoing since 2013. The Iowa DOT has a responsibility to manage the transportation system and balance needs of the public with funding. As part of this responsibility, assets within the transportation system are regularly evaluated. This study satisfies that responsibility.
