PACCAR issues recall for certain Kenworth, Peterbilt models over faulty braking system
PACCAR Incorporated has reported in a recall notice to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that certain Kenworth and Peterbilt models may suffer brake failure when the brake pedal is fully applied, then released rapidly.

WASHINGTON — PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-24 Kenworth T280, T380, T480, Peterbilt 536, 537 and 548 vehicles due to a braking system issue, according to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

When the brake pedal is fully applied and then released rapidly, the pedal plunger that connects the brake pedal to the brake valve may become disconnected, causing the brakes to fail, according to the recall notice.

The company says that a remedy “is under development.”

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 16. Owners may contact Kenworth’s customer service at (425) 828-588 and Peterbilt’s customer service at (940) 591-4220.

PACCAR’s numbers for this recall are 23KWB and 23PBB.

I don’t normally reply to articles- but Vernon, the article I read is about recalls with faulty brakes on certain truck models. Now, I’m not sure what article you’re commenting on- however, to me… being able to safely stop a semi truck, is kind of a big deal.

There’s a lot more wrong with Peterbilt and Kenworth with packer components electrical computer you name it these are the worst trucks I’ve ever worked on

Everyone absolutely loves Kenworth and Peterbilt… until they have to drive a modern one… as far as all of the trucks built within the last 5-10 years, anything with a Paccar engine under the hood is BY FAR the worst truck to own. They’re dangerously slow compared to all of the other truck brands. The transmission programming is pathetic. Extremely slow shifting, hunting gears, clutch dumping making the tires spin on dry pavement. Extremely unreliable engine and aftertreatment system.
