HOUSTON — The driver of a tractor-trailer carrying fruit found themselves pinned in their vehicle after falling asleep at the wheel and overturning their vehicle.
KPRC reports that the wreck happened Sunday, May 8, in north Harris County, Texas, on the northbound lanes of the Sam Houston Parkway and Veterans Memorial.
KTRK reported the crash happened at about 3 a.m. when the big rig lost control and slammed into an outside wall of the toll plaza, causing it to flip onto its side.
Deputies reported that the driver fell asleep and hit a tollbooth plaza. The truck landed on its side and the driver wound up pinned for a short period of time.
Photos show boxes of fruit littering the roadway, resulting in a cleanup. Two lanes were blocked off as crews worked to flip the 18-wheeler back over and clearing the fruit as well as diesel fuel.
No injuries were reported and the driver is expected to be OK.
